Cleaning and Maintenance – Keeping Tarpaulin Like New Forever
1. Lay it flat to prevent scratches
Lay the tarpaulin flat on a clean, flat surface. First, gently rinse the surface with clean water to remove stains. Then, use a soft cloth or sponge with a small amount of neutral detergent to gently wipe it. After rinsing, thoroughly rinse away any remaining foam with clean water to avoid detergent residue causing material aging.
2. Avoid folding while wet
Folding the tarpaulin while wet will create creases that are difficult to restore to their original shape over time. After cleaning, allow it to air dry completely before rolling or folding it for storage to prevent moisture from remaining in the creases and causing mold or hardening of the material.
3. Regular inspection and localized repair
Before and after use, inspect the tarpaulin surface for scratches, tears, or aging spots. Minor damage can be reinforced locally with special PVC repair tape or hot melt adhesive to prevent the crack from widening. For severely damaged areas, it is recommended to replace the entire piece of material to ensure overall waterproof and dustproof performance.
4. Prevent Prolonged Exposure to Sunlight and Chemical Corrosion
Although PVC tarpaulin has some UV resistance, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight will still accelerate aging. It is recommended to store the tarpaulin in a shaded warehouse or cover it with a UV-protective cover when not in use; also, avoid direct contact with strong acids, alkalis, or solvents to prevent surface corrosion.
